Marie Joyce (Colhagen) Herald, 79, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital with her family by her side.

Preceded in death by her parents Malinda (Young) and Sidney Colhagen, her brothers Bruce and James Yocum and her infant son, Daniel Hatfield. She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Featherston, Sheila Miller, Violet Johnson and Lula Shaw-McVicker and her children, John Pierson, Donald Brian (Kristine) Hatfield, Deborah Hatfield , Dale (Patricia) Hatfield, and Linda Hatfield. She also leaves behind 16 loving grandchildren, 17 beautiful great-grandchildren and she was blessed with 2 great-great grandchildren.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 12, 1936, she moved to Indianapolis as an infant and resided in Greenwood, IN, until she passed. She worked in numerous jewelry stores as a manager, but her best work was the mother to her five children until the end. She was a trusted confidant to her younger sisters and never failed to send yearly birthday and Christmas cards.

The family will receive guests on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, from noon until 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Since Marie always loved a man in a suit and tie, it is requested that men dress appropriately.
